Wood Group wins $24m gas turbine contract in Texas

Wood Group, the Aberdeen-based energy services company, has won a $24 million (£15m) fast-track contract to install a gas turbine for NRG Energy at its power station near Houston, in Texas.

The firm, which was yesterday told it was being promoted back into the FTSE 100 index, will complete the installation of the turbine before next summer and will then carry out maintenance work.

NRG Energy plans to eventually convert the power station into a carbon capture and storage project.
