Wolfson's tops

WOLFSON Microelectronics took the top awards at the Scotland PLC of the year awards in Glasgow last night.

The Edinburgh-based microchip company, which supplies components for iconic brands including Xbox and iPod, took the top award for best PLC while chief executive David Milne was also named CEO of the year.

Edinburgh oil exploration company Cairn Energy were also double winners, taking the award for developing its people as well as best shareholder value. Letts Filofax won the best private company award while Stagecoach won the innovation award. The awards, attended by around 600 people, were launched in 1999.
