WH Smith sees mixed sales fortunes

SALES at WH Smith stores in rail stations and airports across the UK have remained strong in recent weeks, offsetting a decline within its high street shops.

The stationery and newsagent group said its travel business, trading from 757 outlets, raised like-for-like sales 3 per cent during the 14 weeks to 4 June. That compared to a 3 per cent decline in like-for-like sales on the high street, with total sales 4 per cent lower.
