West coast community radio stations join forces

TWO remote community radio stations are joining forces to provide a new service for the West Coast of Scotland.

The long-established Lochbroom FM radio station based in Ullapool has linked up with Gairloch-based Two Lochs Radio.

Lochbroom FM chairman Fran Harrison said: “In order to provide the local radio service we feel the community needs during the winter months we are linking with Two Loch Radio to share their broadcasts.

“This means listeners in the Ullapool and Coigach area will be able to tune in to 102.2 or 96.8 FM and hear local news, weather and road conditions as well as all the other programmes produced by Two Lochs Radio. “

Alex Gray Chairman of Two Lochs Radio said: “We are very pleased to be working with our neighbouring community radio station, Lochbroom FM, to develop the best local radio service that we can for the residents, visitors and businesses across Wester Ross.”

Lochbroom FM will continue to develop an online Internet-only radio service from its Ullapool studio. The Two Lochs Radio service is also available online and through mobile phone apps.

Two Lochs Radio is also celebrating its ninth anniversary of providing a community-based radio service to the Gairloch and Loch Ewe areas of Wester Ross.
