Well services firm Read takes specialism to hole new level

Read Well Services, the oil and gas well performance and tool specialist, has divided its operations into two sister companies under separate management.

Read Expandables will focus on developing the company's "expandable well integrity" and "downhole" isolation products, under existing chief executive Fraser Louden.

Former Expro boss Gavin Prise has been appointed to the board and will take on the role of chief executive of Read Cased Hole, concentrating on well integrity and production logging services.

Aberdeen-based Read says the move will allow both companies to focus on separate growth strategies "better suited to each product".

Prise said: "Our aim is to provide our clients with the highest quality expertise, service and products, giving them clarity on downhole wellbore condition and flow profile."

A consortium led by Energy Ventures invested 18.5 million last year to acquire Read Well Services from Norway's Read-Asa Group.
