Waitrose enjoys Glastonbury vibe

Glastonbury, Murray mania and warmer weather helped supermarket chain Waitrose to cheer a 12.3 per cent jump in sales last week.

The group, part of the John Lewis Partnership, said Glastonbury in particular had a “huge impact”.

The eponymous department store chain had a more subdued week, with clearance sales in its fashion and home divisions helping it to post a 6.7 per cent year-on-year increase in takings, to just over £80 million.
