Vodafone centre a major acquisition for HEROtsc

SCOTLAND'S largest contact centre business, HEROtsc, has acquired a major Vodafone call centre in England.

The company – rebranded from its original Telecom Services Centres name after its acquisition by Indian-based HERO – will continue to handle calls for Vodafone's "higher-value" customers at the Warrington centre. All of the 600 employees will transfer to the Scots group, taking its workforce up to more than 3,000, but will remain at the Warrington site.

Chief executive David Turner said: "This is a significant development in both the mobile and the contact centre markets and enables us to offer a long term future for the Vodafone employees who will be transferring to HEROtsc."

The Larbert-based company already handles calls for Vodafone's pay-as-you-go customers at its Kilmarnock and Dunoon sites. Its latest accounts for the year ending 31 March 2009 showed turnover of 54.2m with pre-tax profits at 6.5m. TSC was acquired by the HERO group in 2007.

It also has operations in Aviemore, Erskine, Falkirk, Greenock and Rothesay.
