Victorian building in Glasgow completes full makeover to become beauty salon

Paisley-based construction services business the JR Group has completed the full-scale conversion of a 130-year-old Glasgow building into a boutique hair salon.

The business has transformed the former Ducati building on the city’s Great Western Road into the latest Mesart Hair Design studio.

JR Group oversaw full corrective works to the Victorian structure, including the removal by hand of the former roof before the fit-out scheme could get under way.

The team managed multiple trade partners on-site including electricians, who provided a full rewire and extensive lighting package, and a group of joiners which created bespoke meeting “pods” elevated above the main workspace.

Mesart Hair Design also has premises in Finnieston and Uddingston.

Craig Whyte, commercial property director at JR Group, said: “We didn’t leave a stone unturned on this project and worked tirelessly with all partners to reinvigorate this Victorian building.

“This comprehensive programme of work has transformed this iconic building into a modern and versatile space and we are pleased to hand over the finished product to the salon.”

JR Group, which launched as a scaffolding business in 1995, now employs around 170 staff and has become one of the largest building and construction firms in Scotland.
