Vertu predicts results will beat City forecasts

Car dealer Vertu Motors, which trades under the Macklin banner north of the Border, today said its annual results should come in ahead of City hopes following a jump in sales.

The firm said the number of new cars sold in the five months to the end of January soared 21.5 per cent compared with a year earlier, ahead of the UK market’s growth of 14.8 per cent.

Fleet and commercial vehicles sales jumped 23.2 per cent, while used sales were up 11.1 per cent on a year ago.

Vertu is due to publish its results for the year to the end of February on 7 May and said that, “given the current strong performance of the group and favourable market trends”, the figures should beat current market expectations.
