Unilever is only UK innovator in top 100

BRITAIN finished at the bottom of a league table of the world’s 100 most innovative companies, according to Thomson Reuters.

Only one British firm – goods manufacturer Unilever – finished in the top 100 based on the number of patents filed. Unilever is half-Dutch and so the UK’s presence in the top 100 could be seen as only one-half, putting it below the tiny European principality of Liechtenstein.

The United States topped the list with 40 entries, followed by Japan with 27, France with ten, Sweden with six and Germany, South Korea and Switzerland all with four.
