Turnover at Haines Watts rises to record

ACCOUNTANCY firm Haines Watts will tomorrow unveil results showing turnover rose to about £3.3 million in the year to March, its best year yet in Scotland.

Growth has accelerated during the first six months of the current year, with the Glasgow office recording a 17 per cent increase, and Haines Watts is now targeting annual turnover of £7m by 2014.

The expansion will be accompanied by a recruitment drive which is already under way, as the company seeks to increase the portfolio of accountancy and advisory services available to clients.

Haines Watts will announce a trio of senior appointments tomorrow, including that of Ian Durie, who will lead the firm’s corporate finance team in Glasgow.

With more than 30 years of experience in corporate finance and senior finance roles, he will work alongside corporate finance director Richard Gibson to develop and expand the range and depth of corporate finance services provided to the firm’s expanding client base.

Marc Shenken and David Brophy are the other appointees, as a tax associate and business services manager, respectively. They have started Haines Watts’ director development programme, and are expected to become directors of the business in the near future.

Chairman Douglas McGhee said the firm was looking to recruit additional “top talent” as it expands the business in Scotland.

In Scotland Haines Watts has nine partners and directors and 60 staff working in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Kirkcaldy.
