Tullow joins Plexus engineering group

OIL explorer Tullow has joined an industry group run by Aberdeen-based engineering firm Plexus, which is addressing technical issues raised by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

Maersk, SafeKick, Shell and Wintershall, the world’s biggest drilling contractor, have already signed up to the group.

Aim-quoted Plexus, which is registered in Surrey but operates from Aberdeen, is leading the £2 million development of well heads that can be used under high pressure at great depths.

Any technology developed during the two-year project will be owned by Plexus and used by the oil companies.
