Triton Group nets six-figure MoD contract

UNDERWATER technology company Triton Group has won a six-figure contract with the Ministry of Defence.

The Aberdeen-based group's Sub-Atlantic subsidiary will supply specialist equipment to be used for survey and salvage work around the UK coastline.

The MoD will use Sub-Atlantic's Comanche remotely-operated vehicle, which is already deployed by customers including the Spanish Coastguard authorities.

Sub-Atlantic has also supplied products to the Russian military, and US and Australian navies.

Late last year, the firm's sister company, Perry Slingsby Systems, secured a 14 million order from a marine contractor for five underwater vehicles to operate in the Asia-Pacific region.

Triton was founded in early 2007 after a buyout of Perry Slingsby Systems, the Yorkshire-based subsea vehicle manufacturer, from Coflexip Stena Offshore.

The group now encompasses 11 companies offering products and services to the subsea oil and gas sector. Its main bases are in the UK, US and Singapore. The firm is backed by Houston-based private equity firm SCF Partners.
