Trinity Mirror set to cut £20m of 'stuff'

TRINITY Mirror, publisher of the Daily Record, said it is planning to make further cost savings of at least £20 million.

The group stripped out 67.9m in costs in 2009 through a series of measures, including 1,700 job losses.

A spokesman for the group said yesterday that the extra cuts would be made "through a mixture of stuff" but he would not say if further job cuts are likely.

"There isn't some sort of target headcount," he said.

The group said advertising declines would ease this year as it posted a 42 per cent drop in annual pre-tax profits to 72.7m.
