The start-up, based at Edinburgh’s CodeBase technology incubator, develops software to help clients such as PwC and the University of York run online training programmes.

More than 50 per cent of the firm’s revenues now come from outside the UK, and key customers in North America include boat manufacturer Boston Whaler and agriculture-focused technology group Ag Leader.

On the back of its contract wins, Administrate has seen its headcount expand to 32, up from 15 in January.

Chief executive John Peebles said: “High growth is an exciting time and is also inherently challenging.

“I’m really proud of how our team has been able to grow and meet these challenges head on by focusing on making our customers more successful. We’ve got a huge opportunity to make a difference in how education and training is delivered and we feel like this is just the beginning of the journey.”

Administrate is due to hold a two-day conference for customers and learning professionals, starting on 24 September.
