Toshiba hires Edinburgh’ Tayburn agency

JAPANESE electronics giant Toshiba has hired Edinburgh-based brand agency Tayburn to help it capitalise on its sponsorship of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The technology company has hired the agency to help it communicate with customers and its staff.

Winning the contract has rounded off a busy nine months for Tayburn, which has grown its new business income by 30 per cent to about £350,000.

Other contracts won by the agency include work for Scoban, the private bank being launched in Edinburgh by former Adam & Co chief executive Ray Entwistle, and Standard Life Wealth.

Director Richard Simpson said: “We’re really excited by the range and diversity of new business that Tayburn has secured during 2013 and, with a final quarter left to go of our financial year, we are looking forward to the growth opportunities for the business in 2014.”

Simpson said that his agency had also won work from a newly launched craft brewer, a new “premium” cider brand, an insurance firm and a sports brand. However, he declined to identify the clients.

He also remained tight-lipped over Tayburn’s turn-over and profits for the past year, with the firm’s small size meaning it only has to file abbreviated accounts at Companies House.

Clients already on the company’s books include Diageo, Scotland’s largest distiller, Royal Mail and SSE.
