Three take centre-stage as SECC gets set for arena opening

The Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre announced a shake-up at the top this week with a trio of appointments to its board, as the venue prepares for the Scottish National Arena opening in 2013.

Commercial director Peter Duthie, sales director Ben Goedegebuure and finance director Billy McFadyen were all appointed full board members. Chairman Sir Ian Grant said: "Peter, Ben and Billy have all delivered in their executive roles and this step both recognises their considerable contributions and commits the company to a robust team that will ensure the arena is successfully delivered and integrated into the business."

As part of the restructure, Mike Closier is to step down as the group's executive deputy chairman after nearly 20 years of service.

Grant said Closier had made an "outstanding contribution" to the success of the business and had been the inspiration and driving force behind the development and construction of the landmark Glasgow structure.
