They know their beans: accountants welcome top pair

ACCOUNTANCY firms have been adding to their senior teams, with Ernst & Young and Mazars making top-level appointments.

Ernst & Young has promoted Aberdeen-based Ally Rule to the rank of partner following a year in which he advised on two of the UK oilfield services sector's biggest deals.

Galashiels-born Rule - who has more than 15 years' transactions experience, having joined the firm from university - played a "key role" in the sale of Production Services Network (PSN) to Wood Group and General Electric's acquisition of Wellstream Holdings.

Meanwhile, Mazars has appointed Paul Mason to the position of corporate finance director in its Glasgow office.

Mason joins from Brewin Dolphin and will head the firm's corporate finance business in Scotland.

His appointment comes after Neil Mitchell joined the firm as a tax partner in May, with the firm saying more staff are due to join as part of its "growth strategy in Scotland".
