These Scottish Currys and PC World stores have reopened today for collections

Currys and PC World owner Dixons Carphone has extended its “zero-contact” order and collect service to a further 30-odd stores, including several sites in Scotland.

Dixons Carphone, owner of Currys and PC World, is reopening several stores for collection services.

The move follows a successful trial over the past couple of weeks at 20 stores south of the Border, which has seen more than 24,000 items purchased and collected.

The 32 sites being added across the UK include Aberdeen Berryden, Dundee Kingsway, Edinburgh Kinnaird, Glasgow Braehead, Inverness Telford Street, Kirkcaldy and Stirling.

Mark Allsop, chief operating officer at Dixons Carphone, said: “On 22 May we opened 20 stores to operate a zero-contact order and collect service. This has gone extremely well and we are pleased to announce that we will be extending the service to 32 further stores nationwide as of today.

“With a tremendous amount of hard work and commitment from our store colleagues, we are happy and confident that we’re providing both customers and colleagues a safe environment as we roll-out this service further.

“The drive-thru order and collect service is a zero-contact way customers can purchase items online and collect them from their chosen local store, with pick-up availability ranging from an hour after purchase to the next day depending on stock.”

He added: “Over the last two weeks we have seen over 24,000 items purchased and collected from the 20 stores safely, with top performing products including small-screen TVs, home audio, laptops, printers and scanners, consoles and PC gaming hardware.”

At the end of April, Dixons Carphone said it had seen booming online trading help make up around two-thirds of store sales lost amid the coronavirus lockdown. The retailer said UK and Ireland online sales leapt 166 per cent in the five weeks to 25 April.
