MTS Nationwide’s golf and utilities division plans to have its depot at Cumbernauld open by late spring following an expansion of its partnership with Club Car, a manufacturer of small, zero emissions electric vehicles and official supplier to the 2014 Ryder Cup.

The equipment hire group is establishing its Scottish facility with the help of a £500,000 funding package from Clydesdale Bank’s sister organisation Yorkshire Bank.

Founded 30 years ago, MTS Nationwide, which trades as MTS Group, operates depots in County Durham, Lancashire and Yorkshire and employs 42 staff.

Peter Watson, managing director of MTS Group, said: “With the forthcoming Ryder Cup at Gleneagles, and Club Car’s long association with the event, it is particularly timely to be expanding our business in Scotland.

“We see great opportunities for growth.”
