Mairead Hume, who hails from Dunblane, launched her eponymous Harris tweed golf collection last year after spotting a gap in the market. The products already hang from the bags of top European tour players like Beth Allan and Sally Watson.

Now Hume, who worked for a golf tour operator for 14 years, is in advanced talks with a number of major courses looking to stock her products, including Trump Turnberry and Kingsbarns Golf Links. She also aims to break into the US market later this summer.

Hume, who has received support from Business Gateway Stirling, said: “It’s taken months of hard work to get to where I am now. The reaction to the products has been phenomenal, and the golf pros who use them love the fact they’ve got a little bit of Scotland with them wherever they are competing.”
