Supermarket chain goes Lidl farther north

SUPERMARKET chain Lidl is creating 20 jobs this week with the opening of its latest Scottish venture.

The new Orkney store, which will be one of the most northerly supermarkets in Britain, stretches to almost 1300 square metres and will charge the same prices as any other Scottish Lidl branch.

A spokesperson for Lidl Scotland said: "Even though a delivery to Orkney costs us twice as much as a delivery to Edinburgh, Lidl offers the exact same prices in Kirkwall as they do in Glasgow or any other Scottish store."
