Superdry owner upbeat after jump in Q1 sales

SuperGroup, the company behind the Superdry fashion brand, today said it was confident of delivering profitable growth this year after enjoying a jump in first-quarter sales.

The firm, which started life as a market stall in Cheltenham, generated revenues of £87 million in the three months to 26 July, an increase of 15.9 per cent on a year ago.

Chief executive and co-founder Julian Dunkerton said: “With our strong pipeline of new stores, particularly in mainland Europe, the continued evolution of the ranges and our improved infrastructure, we remain confident that we have the platform to deliver profitable growth in the current year.”

Analysts are forecasting a pre-tax profit of £70.3m for the year, up from the £62m SuperGroup reported for the 12 months to 26 April.
