Sun shines on Iomart thanks to cloud

IOMART, the Glasgow website hosting company, is on track to beat forecasts for interim profits of £2.35 million.

In a pre-close update before its half-year results, the company said its move into "cloud computing", where clients access data and software online rather than on individual computer terminals, had led to a "substantial number" of contracts.

The company - due to report on 29 November - expects full-year profits to come in ahead of expectations, which sit at 5.1m-5.6m.

Iomart added: "We continue to pursue acquisition opportunities, which would accelerate our growth as we bolt them on to our existing infrastructure."

Recent contract wins include Shine TV - which makes television series Merlin and Masterchef - and Travel agency Flight Centre.
