Stuart Riddell quits Icas for French Duncan

Stuart Riddell, former executive director of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, has joined accountancy firm French Duncan as business development director.

Riddell has extensive experience in business development having headed up the Scottish operation of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants before joining Icas.

He said: "I am delighted to have joined an ambitious and dynamic accountancy firm with such a well-merited reputation and look forward to reinforcing French Duncan's standing in the Scottish business community."

Law firm Burness has appointed Ewan McIntyre, head of litigation at Morton Fraser, as a partner in its dispute resolution unit, to "strengthen the firm's energy and media credentials" and help its growth strategy.

McIntyre will bring expertise in the aviation, media, oil and gas, and nuclear industry sectors to Burness. His start date is yet to be announced.

Commercial property law firm Bell & Scott has hired Joan Devine as head of property litigation.

Devine, who joins the firm from DLA Piper, has more than 20 years experience in commercial disputes, with particular expertise in insolvency and property litigation.

Central Insurance has continued its recent expansion with the appointment of two senior staff in Aberdeen.

Steven Cox and Euan McKenzie, both formerly of Towergate Risk Solutions, are joining Central's corporate and commercial insurance broking team as account director and account executive respectively.

Business advisory firm Deloitte has appointed Steve Dean as head of client relationships and growth for Scotland. Based in the Edinburgh office, Dean, who has worked in the Deloitte UK consulting team for seven years, will now help the firm build and manage its key client relationships north of the Border.
