Stena writes £200k cheque for chocks

AN ABERDEENSHIRE firm, PPS Glass Fibre, has won a contract worth £200,000 from shipping group Stena.

The deal will see the Inverurie company develop and manufacture more than 300 chocks used to keep machinery in place on board drilling ships.

Lesley Paterson, managing director of PPS, which has a number of orders from Stena before, said it represented the largest contract to date.

"It involved several months of research and development before a perfect weight and strength for the chocks was achieved," she said.
