Stats Group wins major supply deal with Qatar

PIPELINE engineering firm Stats Group yesterday won what is understood to be its biggest-ever contract after securing a ten-year deal with Qatargas, the world’s largest liquified natural gas (LNG) producer.

Under the contract, which is believed to be worth at least seven figures, Aberdeen-based Stats will design, manufacture, test and supply “Tecno Plugs” for the firm’s emergency pipeline repair system (EPRS) covering production facilities in the Arabian Gulf’s north field.

LNG from the Gulf is piped to Ras Laffan City for export. Stats is recruiting an extra 20 staff to support the Qatari project.

Stats group chief executive Pete Duguid said: “To be awarded a contract of this magnitude underlines the confidence Qatargas has in Stats and our unique technologies and our ability to respond to all its pipeline integrity and repair issues.

“This award puts us in a very strong position to take advantage of the emerging EPRS sector in the Middle East and gives us a platform to establish our credentials as a leader in this type of work on a global scale.”
