Staff blamed for green failures

NEARLY one in three Scottish companies admit that their employees represent the "largest barrier" to improving their environmental performance, according to data from Envirowise.

The group found that "ambivalence", "lack of familiarity with environmental issues" and "getting employees to believe they can make a difference" were among the problems faced by managers.

Jamie Pitcairn, Envirowise programme director in Scotland, said: "Improving your green performance is a proven way to make tangible financial savings. So an uncommitted workforce could be losing your business money."
