Tobermory Pharmacy is said to have been “trading very profitably for many years now”, providing an integral service to the island’s community and working with its three GP surgeries. It occupies the ground floor of a three-storey building in the quayside town centre.

The business, which is on the market for £500,000, has been owned by Julie Walker since 2016, when she relocated from Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Walker, who has decided to sell due to changes in family circumstances, said: “I love my work here in Tobermory, in fact we provide services for the whole island and some of the mainland and will be very sad to leave especially since the inception of the one island practice – Mull Medical Group.

“We work very closely with the practice. It is a wonderful place to practice community pharmacy.”

Karl Clezy, director at property adviser Christie & Co, who is handling the sale, added: “I sold the pharmacy to Julie back in 2016 when she relocated from the north east of England.

“Back then the pharmacy was also trading very well, which proves that, for a long time now, this has been a reliable and stable business to invest in. Buyers should take note this pharmacy remains an essential provider of healthcare to the community on the Isle of Mull and the thousands of tourists that visit every year.”

Many associate the island with the children’s TV programme Balamory, which has helped increase tourism.
