Smart move despite likely profit dip

BUILDING contractor J Smart yesterday said house sales had seen a “modest revival” over the past two months but warned underlying profits for the year will still be less than last year.

The Edinburgh-based company reported profits for the six months to 31 January fell to £1.46 million from £3.37m last year although group turnover increased by 78 per cent to £13.7m.
