Small building firms still feeling pinch

SMALL building companies in Scotland suffered another decline in conditions during the second quarter of 2011, according to the latest state of trade survey from the Federation of Master Builders.

It shows that conditions in the Scottish SME construction sector have improved since the first quarter, but remain negative overall.

Grahame Barn, director, said: "Although conditions are not as bad as they were in the first quarter of this year, they are still heavily negative, suggesting that small builders in Scotland are continuing to struggle."
