Skeoch honoured as his alma mater celebrates 450 years

Standard Life Investments chief executive Keith Skeoch has been awarded an honorary doctorate from Teesside University in recognition of his contribution to the financial services industry over many years.

His role working with government and trade bodies in establishing best practice in stewardship and governance in the wake of the global financial crisis, in particular, was cited.

He received his degree at Gisborough Hall in North Yorkshire, at an event to mark the 450th anniversary of the university's partner college, Prior Pursglove College.

Skeoch grew up in the town of Guisborough and is a former student of Prior Pursglove. Teesside vice-chancellor Professor Graham Henderson CBE said: "Keith has made a most distinguished contribution to his industry and is a great credit to the college in its 450th year."

Skeoch is no stranger to the limelight, having hosted ITV's UK budget programme from the trading floor during his time at James Capel & Co.
