Senior named vice-president of BCC

Scottish businesswoman Nora Senior has added another feather to her cap after being named vice-president of the British Chambers of Commerce.

Senior will combine the role with her existing position as vice-chair of the Scottish Chambers of Commerce, and with her day job leading PR firm Weber Shandwick in Scotland. She said: “I have been a strong supporter of the Chamber of Commerce movement for many years, including as vice-chair of the Scottish Chambers.

“I bring to this role experience of business in Scotland and across the regions of the UK, along with a long-standing commitment to the promotion of women in business. My appointment serves to emphasise the breadth and diversity of the Chamber of Commerce network across Britain.”

Senior is expected to use her expertise and national profile to fight for the best interests of Scottish businesses across the UK.Mike Salter, chief executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said her appointment demonstrated the importance of Scotland within the UK’s business community.

Senior has worked in public relations for more than 18 years. Before taking up her current role as managing director in charge of Weber Shandwick’s Scottish operations, member of its UK management board and chairman of the UK and Ireland regions, she ran her own company, the PR Centre.

That followed five years with Saatchi & Saatchi’s Scottish-based PR consultancy, Hall Associates.
