Scottish Salmon Company continues to leap

THE Scottish Salmon Company has followed up a record year for sales with a solid first-quarter that saw revenues leap by more than £1 million despite lower volumes.

Releasing its latest results, SSC yesterday said that, with long-term contracts with key partners in place, it was "building its market position from a secure and prestigious customer base, both domestically and overseas".

Net operating revenue exceeded expectations for Q1, at 25.4 million, up from 24.1m the year before, on 5,954 tonnes of harvested salmon, down from 6,407 tonnes. Profits were flat at 6.6m on the reduced volume.

SSC, which produces about a fifth of Scotland's salmon, is listed on Norway's junior stock exchange, the main market for fish-farming companies.
