Scottish firms join forces to back Britain’s convenience stores
“Convenience retailers are competing with national operators investing heavily in digital marketing” – Rich Wetton, Snappy Shopper
Two Scottish businesses have joined forces to back convenience store retailers across the UK.
Snappy Shopper, which was founded in Dundee in 2017, enables local stores to offer on-demand home delivery of groceries and everyday essentials. It has formally appointed Edinburgh-based Empros Retail as its preferred marketing partner.
The partnership combines Snappy Shopper’s home delivery platform, which is active in more than 1,800 stores, with specialist digital marketing support designed to help smaller convenience stores compete with large supermarket operators that have been investing heavily in their online presence.

While the two firms have worked closely since 2023, the partnership formalises a relationship that is said to have delivered “measurable results” for stores nationwide.
Empros Retail director Fraser MacDonald said: “There are two things that are super important for retailers right now. One is getting online and utilising digital marketing. The second is offering fast, reliable home delivery.
“Snappy Shopper is the industry leader in convenience delivery and we’re leading in digital marketing for the sector. Our partnership just makes sense.”
Founded in 2020, Empros has grown rapidly, reporting 400 per cent growth between 2024 and 2025 and now employing a dozen staff from its Edinburgh base. Originally operating as a broader marketing agency, the retail division evolved following its initial collaboration with Snappy Shopper to support stores in driving delivery sales through social media.
Fellow director Jamie Lile said: “Social media is the digital shopfront for modern convenience retail. Stores might have invested in delivery technology but without consistent marketing behind it, they’re not maximising the opportunity.
“We help retailers build recognisable local brands, grow engaged communities and convert that engagement directly into measurable sales.”
Daniall Nadeem of Spar Motherwell Road said: “Our goal has been simple. Shout about what we do best, drive more traffic into the store and build awareness of our Snappy Shopper home delivery service.”
Rich Wetton, marketing director at Snappy Shopper, added: “Convenience retailers are competing with national operators investing heavily in digital marketing. Delivery is only one piece of the puzzle. Retailers also need the tools to market themselves effectively and retain customers long term.”
