Scots planning to keep working

More than a third of Scots within 20 years of the state pension age want to continue working in retirement, according to new research.

The 36 per cent of Scots aged 45 to 65 and hoping to work in retirement want to do so on a part-time or flexible basis, a survey by Standard Life found.

Many will have no choice but to work on, with one in five Scottish 45 to 65-year olds who have made financial plans now worried that those savings will be insufficient to support them in retirement.

While two-thirds of Scots have financial plans in place to provide for their long-term future, four in ten workers north of the Border believe they will be less well-off in retirement than their parents.
