SAS to add 94 ‘high value’ jobs

AMERICAN software company SAS is creating a further 94 jobs and safeguarding 126 in Scotland with the support of a £1.3 million investment package announced in New York during a Scotland Week meeting with First Minister Alex Salmond.

The company will open an advanced analytics lab and expand its existing Scottish Research and Development Centre for Public Security at East Kilbride.

Earlier this week Daktari, an American life sciences company, said it would locate its global manufacturing base in Inverness, with the creation of 126 jobs.

Salmond said: “The new facility will position Scotland as an international centre of excellence for big data analytics and will create a substantial number of highly-skilled, high-value jobs.”

Mikael Hagstrom, SAS executive vice-president for Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific, said: “We’re proud to be building on our existing operations in Scotland.”
