Sales decline eases at Restaurant Group

RESTAURANT Group – the owner of the Frankie & Benny's and Garfunkel's chains – yesterday flagged up better-than-expected profits after buoyant Christmas trading.

The firm, whose portfolio also includes Chiquito, enjoyed "strong" like-for-like sales growth in the six weeks to 27 December.

The company is trading against much easier comparisons with the worst of the recession last year, but said the festive boost had eased sales declines for the year as a whole from 3 per cent to 2 per cent.
