Safestore securely back in profit

SAFESTORE Holdings, the UK's largest self-storage firm, returned to profit yesterday as it revealed new enquiries and reservations were near to the record levels seen in late 2007.

The firm unveiled profits of 6.7 million for the six months to April, compared with a loss of 11.7m a year earlier, after its number of domestic and business customers increased by 6.5 per cent to more than 40,000.

The company, which has 128 stores in the UK and Paris, said demand was driven by increased activity in the housing market.
