Ryanair traffic lifts Prestwick

Passenger numbers at Prestwick airport soared last month, boosted by an increase in traffic from Ryanair.

Chief executive Iain Cochrane predicted a further boost in the coming months as the budget carrier adds more flights to Alicante, Faro and Malaga.

Almost 119,000 passengers passed through the Ayrshire terminal in May, up 14 per cent on the same month last year, and Cochrane said: “As more Scots head for their summer holidays to destinations such as Spain, Italy and Poland, we expect to see passenger volumes continuing to increase over last year.”
