Royal wedding the Pinnacle of firm's contracts

PINNACLE, the Paisley-based telecoms company chaired by former Thus chief executive Bill Allan, has won a contract to provide a voice and data network for the BBC's outside broadcast from the royal wedding.

The Aim-quoted company will set up equipment opposite Buckingham Palace at Canada Gate, where a media compound will be built, at the Mall and Horse Guards Road, along Whitehall and Downing Street and opposite Westminster Abbey.

Chief executive Alan Bonner said: "The royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton is likely to be one of the biggest events of the year and we are delighted to be able to continue to supply high-profile, short-term events for the BBC, which further demonstrates the group's ability in this specialist area."

Details of the deal came a day after Pinnacle posted a maiden operating profit, swinging from a 500,000 loss in 2009 to a 79,000 surplus last year.

Events covered by the firm last year for the BBC included music concert T in the Park, the Pope's visit and the Chelsea flower show.
