Rolls-Royce wins £243m Thai Airways engine order

ENGINEERING giant Rolls-Royce has won an order worth about $390 million (£243m) from Thai Airways International for Trent 700 engines to power an additional seven Airbus A330 aircraft.

The deal includes a long-term servicing agreement that will begin next year.

Nick Devall, Rolls-Royce executive vice president, said: "Thai is a very important customer and we are delighted that they have once again demonstrated their confidence in Rolls-Royce."

Thai, which already operates eight Trent 700-powered A330, was the launch customer for the Trent 800 on the Boeing 777 and has 20 of the aircraft in its fleet. It also operates ten Trent 500-powered Airbus A340s.
