Managing partner Bill Drummond said: “We are delighted to be able to make Richard’s talent available to our clients.”

News of the appointment came as international law firm Pinsent Masons unveiled a joint venture with Glasgow-based IT consultancy Campbell Nash.

Pinsent Masons, which last year took over McGrigors, Scotland’s largest legal practice, said that the two businesses had developed “Cerico”, a system that will make it easier for companies to comply with legislation such as the Bribery Act and the Health & Safety at Work Act.

Cerico will also given clients access to training materials.
