The Glasgow-based firm has also got its feet under the table in Brazil, Denmark, Malta and Portugal recently as it forges alliances with entrepreneurs across the globe.

Chief operating officer Mike Breewood said: “There is a huge amount of interest in the ResDiary system. It is becoming widely recognised that is not only fully featured but it is very easy for restaurateurs and their staff to adopt in their operations.”

The US agreement coincided with ResDiary’s appearance for the first time at the National Restaurateurs’ Association show in Chicago in May, one of the most important events of its kind in the world, where 1,800 suppliers and tens of thousands of buyers shape the future of the restaurant, food service and hospitality industry.

It is the company’s first move into the US, where it hopes to roll out to a vast potential market of new customers.

The deal partners the Scottish firm with web services provider Local Logic Media of Jackson, Michigan.

In Brazil, ResDiary has struck an agreement with Marcus Mansani, who is setting up a web portal to bring bookings to Brazilian restaurants and hotels in advance of the World Cup this week.

Breewood said: “This is one of the richest states in Brazil and the potential in its many high class restaurants is enormous.”

He said the agreements greatly enhance the firm’s geographical reach and give it entry to major new market possibilities.

“They build on the excellent agreement structures we have in place in Australia, Norway, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Indonesia as well as more recent arrangements in Bahrain, Kazakhstan, the Philippines and Chile, which are already producing very satisfactory results,” he added.

ResDiary is also exploring lucrative new avenues in Africa and the Middle East through its partnership with Micros, the world’s largest supplier of point-of-sale and property management systems.

Breewood said: “I have just returned from Casablanca and a major meeting with Micros’ partners. There is hardly a five- or four-star hotel in the Africa or the Middle East which does not run Micros systems and ResDiary’s close association with the company gives us an invaluable entry point.”

ResDiary’s booking systems are used in the Houses of Parliament restaurants, the Royal Opera House and Blenheim Palace, as well as by Scottish Michelin star chefs Martin Wishart and Tom Kitchin.
