'Record year' for Scottish software firm

CRANEWARE, the Livingston-based hospital software firm, yesterday hailed a "record sales year", with the total value of its contracts expected to hit $54 million (£35m).

The product allows hospitals to track patients and make sure they are billed for the correct amount. High demand in the United States boosted sales. Turnover also rose on the back of further products being launched.

Chief executive Keith Neilson said: "The on-going healthcare reforms in the US have increased the need for our financial performance and risk mitigation solutions and we have continued to execute on our strategy."
