Mark and Sir Bill Gammell, former CEO of Cairn Energy and chairman of the charity Winning Scotland Foundation, received a cheque for £35,000 from Gordon Wilson, managing director of Carbon Financial Partners, in Edinburgh.
The funds were presented to Winning Scotland Foundation, a charity that provides opportunities for young people to learn important skills for life through its work in schools, sport and communities.
Carbon Financial Partners, a financial planning and investment advice firm, raised the money through an arduous five-day cycle over 500 miles round the north coast of Scotland.
Ten riders, made up of Carbon employees and friends of the firm, cycled the mountainous route in September, enduring some poor weather conditions and numerous mechanical problems.
At the cheque presentation, Mark Beaumont talked about his own experience of cycle challenges as well as his work inspiring young people and his support for the charity.
He said: “Huge congratulations to the team from Carbon Financial for completing the challenge, a stunning but grueling route, and for their sterling efforts in support of Winning Scotland Foundation.”
Sir Bill Gammell also thanked the fundraising team, adding: “We are so grateful for this cheque for the fantastic sum of money raised by Carbon Financial Partners.

Winning Scotland Foundation is an independent charity that is working to create a culture where all young people in Scotland have the opportunity to develop themselves and learn important life skills.
By using sport as a learning tool, we want to enable all young people, today and in the future, to be well-prepared for their lives ahead of them. We do this through researching and developing programmes, activities and projects and by influencing health, education and government.
