Real promotion for radio chief

GMG Radio yesterday named Billy Anderson as managing director of its Real Radio and Rock Radio brands.

Anderson will take up the newly created position in December after previously overseeing the group's stations in Scotland and the north-east of England.

Real Radio has a five-strong network of regional stations and Rock Radio operates in Glasgow and Manchester.

Anderson joined Real Radio Scotland at its launch as sales director before becoming deputy managing director and then managing director of the broadcaster and its sister Smooth and Rock stations in Scotland. GMG Radio, owned by the Guardian Media Group, has 13 stations across the UK and reaches almost five million listeners a week.
