RBS names Ewen Stevenson as new finance chief

Royal Bank of Scotland today named Ewen Stevenson as its new chief finance officer, replacing Nathan Bostock who quit at the end of last year.

Stevenson takes up the role on 19 May and joins from Credit Suisse, where he is joint head of investment banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Fellow New Zealander and RBS chief executive Ross McEwan said: “Ewen has spent many years working with the world’s leading banks. In recent years he has been a trusted adviser to both governments and company boards on the steps needed to restore confidence in financial institutions following the crisis.

“At RBS we are determined to re-earn the trust of our customers and our continued financial health is central to that task. Ewen shares our vision for building a great customer bank and I look forward to working with him.”

Stevenson’s appointment follows the resignation in December of Bostock, who had been in the post for just three months. He is rejoining Santander UK as chief risk officer and deputy chief executive under Ana Botin.
