RBS said yesterday that its modern apprenticeship programme, run in conjunction with Skills Development Scotland, took on 85 young people this year in a variety of roles, with 2016 seeing an expansion in numbers, with a particular focus on technology.

Madalaine Leviston from RBS’s apprenticeship programme, pictured with apprentices Ursula Manning and Jack Houston, said: “Our apprentices are given real responsibility from day one in the role. They will be given all the knowledge and support required to successfully complete their qualifications and excel in their roles.

“It is not a requirement that you have any experience in banking or technology. All our apprentices are hired to permanent roles, so they will still be in employment once their apprenticeship is completed.”
