Ratcliffe in digital role at Standard Life

STANDARD Life, the life and pensions giant, yesterday named David Ratcliffe as its first head of digital operations.

Ratcliffe joins from the Claverley Group, which owns radio stations and newspapers in the Channel Islands and the English Midlands, including the Express & Star, which Scottish steel baron Andrew Carnegie founded in Wolverhampton in the 1880s.

He will oversee Edinburgh-based Standard Life’s move into mobile phone applications and online social networks, as well as existing websites for the general public and financial advisers.
